How can both policy formulation and policy implementation be designed in such a way that the last mile challenges get addressed? This is indeed a serious concern for policy making in general. Often, the burden of a policy flaw is placed on the implementation process, which although not inaccurate, leaves aside the question that the very process of formulation may need to be rethought taking into account implementation challenges. Understanding the role of how street bureaucracy engages with the last mile policy implementation is an exciting area of research. The centre, by accessing such periodically released data from the Census, the NSSO, SRS, NFHS, and data from surveys like the IHDS, would like to grapple more meticulously with the nature of the policy making process.
