We are glad to announce the release of the first of a three-part study on media influences in India authored by CPS’s visiting fellow, Vibodh Parthasarathi, and project associate Simran Agarwal. The study was undertaken in collaboration with the Centre for Media, Data and Society, CEU under their Media Influence Matrix project. The current chapter explores the legal, political, and extra-constitutional influences that sway the news media and regulatory environment in India.
The second part of the study is underway and aims to explore the economic factors that influence news media practice in India. Along with Vibodh Parthasarathi and Simran Agarwal, a team of research interns including Prem Sylvester, Kripa Fernandes, and Shivani Chunekar are working on the upcoming chapters.
