Academics at ADCPS

The Ashank Desai Centre for Policy Studies at IIT Bombay aims to produce scholars and practitioners who are equipped to engage in a critical study of public policy. Such an approach will contribute to holistic and contextualised evidence informed policy analyses from within India. Policy studies require dialogue between disciplines such as history, political science, sociology, anthropology, economics, and demography along with domain-specific expertise in science, technology, agriculture, resource management, health, and design. Situated within IIT Bombay, ADCPS is poised to initiate such collaborations between the public policy scholars, and experts from other disciplines. This creates an opportunity for reciprocal learning in an environment of the plurality of opinion and experience.

About the Programmes

Policy Studies in India is relatively new and has the potential to create an exciting transdisciplinary field of enquiry. Research and training at the Ashank Desai Centre for Policy Studies are grounded in the understanding of the political and social contexts; the role of extant and emerging technologies; and the challenges and opportunities of development.
Academic training at the Centre is supplemented with hands-on experience. During their internships, students can learn from experts, obtain immersive field experience, and refine their understanding and approach to Policy Studies. Network building with experts and research partners during these internships may result in long-term collaborations and provide access to future career opportunities.
