Indian Perspectives on Internationalization of Higher Education

·

Abstract: A foreign degree enjoys high premium in the employment market and is considered as a high- return investment pathway to success for youth in India. Although student mobility is the most visible form of cross border mobility, tans-national education (TNE) is a new phenomenon facilitated through the establishment of branch campuses of foreign universities in India. The changing political climate and fluctuating visa rules have injected an element of uncertainty in the cross-border student mobility and it has provided a fertile ground for TNE to emerge as an alternative to access global higher education. This seminar will discuss the dynamics of cross border mobility in higher education in India.
