Speaker: Ike Uri’s research focuses on the intersection of climate vulnerability, urban planning, and politics. Primarily considering the creation and ongoing implementation of the Mumbai Climate Action Plan, he asks how politics, as well as the outsourcing of climate-focused planning to consultants, impacts how Indian cities confront nascent and quickly intensifying climate risks. He focuses on how climate planning is shaped by local political and bureaucratic contexts, nongovernmental experts, and international norms and forms of expertise.
